World Mental Health Day, celebrated on October 10 each year, serves as a reminder to prioritize mental health in the workplace. Purdue University has been actively working towards improving overall health and wellness, including mental health, for the Purdue community. Through the Healthy Boiler Program, the university focuses on five pillars – behavioral health, financial wellness, physical health, social wellness, and work-life integration.

The university’s behavioral health pillar aims to raise awareness and provide resources for faculty and staff to address any mental health issues that may arise. Purdue and Purdue Global strive to make it easier for employees to seek mental health assistance through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which offers free and confidential counseling for eligible employees and their dependents.

With the help of behavioral health providers, individuals can receive quality counseling in a supportive and non-judgmental environment. Employees can also be referred to the Center for Healthy Living for long-term behavioral health support.

Additional mental health resources are available for faculty, staff, and students, including information on Purdue’s health plan coverage for mental health services. Students can access resources such as Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS) and HealthiestYou for virtual mental health care services. It’s important for everyone to prioritize mental health and seek help when needed for a healthier and more balanced life.
