The new mechanical keyboard from 8BitDo takes inspiration from the iconic design of the 1980s Commodore 64 computer. It is available for preorder now for $109.99 and will be shipped on May 26th. The keyboard features brown keycaps with double-shot legends, a rainbow logo reminiscent of the Commodore 64, and clicky Kailh Box White V2 switches. It can connect to devices via USB, Bluetooth, or a 2.4GHz dongle and has a built-in volume dial. The keyboard also includes programmable “Super Buttons” similar to the NES controller’s A and B buttons, as well as a joystick called the “Super Stick.” The keyboard follows a tenkeyless form factor without RGB lighting. Despite its chunky appearance, the original Commodore 64 actually used Mitsumi hybrid switches.
