Ryan followed suit in game two, allowing just three hits in five scoreless innings while recording one strikeout. Howell came in for relief and secured her third save of the season with four strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

The Penguins now stand at 25-12 overall and 12-2 in the Horizon League, while the Colonials drop to 10-17 overall and 5-6 in the league.

In the first game, after a strong start from Robert Morris’ pitcher Kaitlyn Molitoris, the Penguins broke the no-hitter in the fifth inning. Freshman Macy Littler’s triple scored the game’s only run, giving Youngstown State a 1-0 victory.

Game two saw senior Sara Fessler hitting a solo home run and driving in an additional run with a single, leading the Penguins to a 2-0 win. Fessler and Littler each contributed two hits to the team’s victory.

The two teams will face off again on Wednesday for the series’ conclusion in Moon Township, Pa.
