My Child’s First Communion Coincides with Masters Sunday

First Communion, kids, Masters Sunday

Are you ready for Masters Sunday? Will you be hosting a watch party, enjoying a quiet day on the couch, or maybe even lucky enough to attend the tournament in person? The Masters has a special place in the hearts of golf fans, creating their own unique traditions for this iconic day.

For me, Masters Sunday has always been a day to clear my schedule and immerse myself in the tournament. Whether it was a morning round of golf before settling in to watch or enjoying the final holes with my family, it’s a day I look forward to every year.

This year, however, my plans have been thrown into disarray. My daughter’s First Communion falls on the same day as the tournament. At first, I was in denial, hoping it was a mistake. But as the reality set in, I had to come to terms with the fact that I would have to miss part of the Masters.

Sharing the news with my husband and friends brought some comfort, as we commiserated over the scheduling conflict. While I may miss some of the action, I am determined to make the most of the day and enjoy the time with family and friends.

Although it may be different this year, I am looking forward to the special milestone in my daughter’s life and finding moments to catch up on the tournament throughout the day. It’s a reminder that sometimes unexpected changes can lead to new and memorable experiences.

As much as I love the Masters, I know that family moments like these are truly priceless. And who knows, maybe next year I’ll have to have a talk with the Archbishop if another scheduling conflict arises!
