The Boston Marathon continues to be a historic and beloved event, with the 128th edition taking place on Monday. Over 30,000 runners and countless spectators gathered to witness the race spanning from Hopkinton to Boylston Street in Boston.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the race’s relocation from Ashland to Hopkinton, aligning with the international standard distance of 26.2 miles. It also celebrates the 10th anniversary of Meb Keflezighi’s historic win in 2014, following a challenging period for the event after the 2013 bombing.

Former Patriots player Rob Gronkowski was named the grand marshal for the 2024 marathon, adding to the excitement of the day. Commemorations were also held for One Boston Day, honoring the victims and heroes of the 2013 bombing.

As runners crossed the finish line, emotions ran high with tales of perseverance and triumph. The physical toll of the marathon was evident, but the support from spectators and loved ones fueled the participants to reach the end.

The event also featured notable wins in the professional divisions, with Hellen Obiri and Sisay Lemma securing victories. The excitement spilled over into the city, with spectators packing Newbury Street and enjoying the lively atmosphere.

Unique elements added to the experience, such as the presence of a blimp over Boston and the placement of daffodils along the race route to honor the Boston Strong spirit. From local celebrities like Zdeno Chara to everyday heroes running for causes close to their hearts, the Boston Marathon once again showcased the best of community, resilience, and determination.
