Google TV Expands Free Streaming Channel Selection with Over 130 Options

free streaming channels, Google TV

Google TV’s free ad-supported TV (FAST) service is continuing to expand its offerings, making it even more enticing for US viewers. As part of its June 2024 update, Google TV has added 10 new channels, following the addition of eight new channels in March. This continuous expansion highlights Google’s commitment to FAST and its recognition of the rapidly growing market for free TV services supported by advertising.

The new channels that have been spotted so far include FilmRise Western, ION+, Johnny Carson TV, Noticias Telemundo Ahora, Property & Reno, Real Disaster Channel, Supermarket Sweep, The FBI Files, World’s Wildest Police Videos, and Yahoo Finance. These channels are listed under the “live” section of the Google TV interface, providing users with easy access to a variety of content.

Google’s decision to invest in FAST comes as no surprise, considering the significant growth of this market. Many companies are now launching free TV services or incorporating advertising as a means to generate revenue. In fact, Google recently debuted the Google TV Network, an advertising network that will be integrated into Google TV across multiple brands and devices, including Android devices and Chromecast. This network will allow brands to purchase ads across the free channels, including options for unskippable ads before, during, and after shows.

The rapid growth of FAST can be attributed to the increasing number of individuals feeling the financial strain and looking for cost-effective entertainment options. Given the choice between an additional subscription service, which often comes with price increases, or enduring a few unskippable ads in exchange for free shows, many people are opting for the latter. Google’s effort to introduce more channels to its FAST service will likely contribute to its appeal and make it an even more attractive choice for viewers.

Additionally, the recent launches of Google TV on high-end sets like the Sony Bravia 9 and the TCL QM851G further enhance the value of the FAST service. After investing in these premium televisions, viewers might appreciate the availability of free entertainment through Google TV. Furthermore, anyone can easily access Google TV by adding the Chromecast with Google TV to their existing TV setup, making it an affordable option for a wide range of users.

While Google TV’s FAST service continues to evolve and expand, it presents an opportunity for viewers to access a diverse range of content without the financial burden of traditional subscriptions. By incorporating advertising, Google is able to offer these channels for free while also generating revenue. This model aligns with the evolving preferences of viewers who are looking for cost-effective ways to enjoy their favorite shows and movies. As the popularity of FAST continues to grow, Google’s investment in expanding its channel offerings is a smart move that ensures the service remains competitive in the ever-changing landscape of streaming entertainment.
