Lenovo has recently unveiled its latest desktop innovation at CES 2024 – the Lenovo ThinkCenter Neo Ultra. This ultra small form factor desktop is designed specifically for small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that want to leverage the power of AI without breaking the bank.
Upon its initial announcement, the device was confirmed to feature an Intel Core i9 processor and an Nvidia RTX 4060 GPU, but the exact specifications were not disclosed. Fortunately, Lenovo has now made the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra available for purchase and has provided more detailed information about its specifications.
The ThinkCenter Neo Ultra offers a range of 14th Gen Intel processors, starting from the i5-14500 and going up to the i9-14900T. However, it is worth noting that there are no AMD variants available for this particular model.
Measuring at just 195 x 191 x 108mm (3.6 liters), the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra is remarkably compact. Despite its small size, it is equipped with a wide range of ports to satisfy various connectivity needs. On the front panel, there are two USB-A ports (USB 10Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 2), with one of them supporting [email protected] charging. Additionally, there is a headphone/mic combo jack (3.5mm) and a USB-C port (USB 20Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 2×2) solely for data transfer purposes. Moving to the rear panel, users will find two USB-A ports (USB 10Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 2), two USB-A ports (USB 5Gbps / USB 3.2 Gen 1), an HDMI 2.1 TMDS port, an Ethernet (GbE RJ-45) port, an HDMI 2.1a FRL port, and four DisplayPort 1.4a ports.
Additionally, the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra offers optional punch-out rear ports, which can be configured to include VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, or USB-C with DisplayPort function for the first punch-out. The second punch-out offers options such as VGA, DisplayPort, HDMI, or 2.5GbE RJ-45.
To meet the demands of modern users, the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra can be equipped with Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 capabilities. It also boasts four M.2 slots – one for WLAN, one for an AI card, and two for SSDs. In terms of cooling, the system is equipped with up to four thermal fans, keeping the internal components running smoothly. This is an improvement from the original specifications, which suggested only three thermal fans.
Currently, the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra is only available in Australia. The standard configuration, which includes the i5-14500 CPU, RTX 4060 GPU, and 16GB DDR5 RAM, is priced at 3,299 AUD ($2,223). Interestingly, this puts it in the same price range as the Apple Mac Studio with M2 Max. However, it is expected that the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra will be available in other regions in the near future. Furthermore, the current model is labeled as “Gen 1,” indicating that Lenovo has plans to unveil updated versions of the product in the coming months.
