Los Angeles Lakers forward Anthony Davis was forced to exit their recent game against the Minnesota Timberwolves early after aggravating an eye injury. The incident occurred when Davis received an inadvertent shot to the face from Timberwolves forward Kyle Anderson during the first quarter of the game at Crypto.com Arena. Despite managing to complete a dunk, Davis landed hard and clearly in pain, prompting his departure from the game due to the left eye injury. He tallied four points and four rebounds in just 12 minutes of play before being ruled out for the remainder of the game.

This was not the first time Davis experienced a corneal abrasion, as he initially suffered the injury in a prior game against the Golden State Warriors. On that occasion, Davis left the game early after Trayce Jackson-Davis made contact with his eye. A specialist had to be consulted due to impaired vision and swelling of his eyelid. Despite the uncertainty surrounding the severity of his latest injury, there is hope that Davis will be available to return for the Lakers’ upcoming game on Tuesday.

Unfortunately, the absence of Davis, coupled with LeBron James being sidelined with flu-like symptoms, resulted in a challenging night for the Lakers as the Timberwolves secured a 127-117 victory. Led by impressive performances from Naz Reid and Anthony Edwards, the Timberwolves outscored the Lakers significantly in the second quarter, ultimately claiming the win. Rui Hachimura led the Lakers with 30 points, followed by contributions from Jaxson Hayes and Spencer Dinwiddie. Despite the loss, the Lakers remain determined as they navigate through the final stretch of the regular season.
