Google’s Circle to Search feature will soon support language translation

Google has expanded its Circle to Search tool to include language translation as part of an update to core services. With Circle to Search, Android users can research by drawing a circle around an object.

The upcoming language translation feature will allow users to simply long press the home button or navigation bar, look for the translate icon, and let Google do the rest. This eliminates the need to switch between apps just to check on something.

The translation tool will roll out in the “coming weeks” to Android devices that can run Circle to Search, such as Pixel 7, Pixel 8, and Samsung Galaxy S24 series. More phones and tablets, including foldables, will receive the update this week.

Google Maps is also receiving updates, focusing on AI. When viewing a place on Maps, AI will provide a summary highlighting unique points of interest and what people love about the business. It will analyze food photos to identify dishes, cost, and dietary preferences, making it easier to make reservations and plan trips.

Additionally, Maps will feature an updated lists function in select cities across the US and Canada. Users can access must-visit destinations curated by the community, customize lists, and explore Google’s weekly trending list and Gems for hidden gems. These updates will be available on both Android and iOS devices later this month.
