Electric vehicles have numerous advantages over traditional internal combustion engine cars. They are more efficient, quieter, and offer more torque. However, EVs are still pricey compared to their gasoline-powered counterparts.
Hertz, a rental company, is selling more than 2,100 EVs, with over half qualifying for the IRS used clean vehicle tax credit. This move is part of Hertz’s eco-friendly plan to decarbonize its fleet. The company had plans to purchase 100,000 Teslas in 2021, but due to delays in deliveries and long repair times, they have diversified their fleet by adding models from Polestar, Kia, and Chevrolet.
Approximately 20,000 EVs will be sold off by Hertz, with 2,115 currently available for purchase on its used car sales site. There are various Tesla models priced under $25,000, including over 60 Model 3s. For those interested in Chevy Bolt, Hertz has over 1,000 Bolt EUVs for sale, all priced low enough to qualify for tax credits.
Other EV models available include Subaru Solterras and Kia EV6s, although these may not qualify for tax credits due to their pricing. Buying an ex-rental car may not be everyone’s preference, but there are significant cost savings compared to purchasing new vehicles.
