The highly anticipated launch of the Google Pixel 9 is still a few months away, but leaked hands-on photos of the rumored smartphone models have surfaced online. These leaked images, provided by an anonymous source to Rozetked, reveal what appears to be the real Pixel 9, Pixel 9 Pro, and Pixel 9 Pro XL handsets.
Although leaks should always be taken with a grain of salt, these images align with the previous Pixel 9 renders and photos that have been circulating online. What’s interesting about these leaked photos is that they depict functional handsets rather than dummy units, adding credibility to their authenticity.
One notable design change seen in these images is the redesigned camera bars. Unlike the Google Pixel 8 line, the camera bars on the Pixel 9 models do not extend across the entire width of the phone. Additionally, the Pixel 9 models have flat backs and sides, resulting in a less curvy design compared to their predecessors.
In terms of display size, Rozetked reveals that the Pixel 9 has a 6.24-inch screen, the Pixel 9 Pro features a slightly larger 6.34-inch display, and the Pixel 9 Pro XL boasts a 6.73-inch screen. Surprisingly, despite the larger display on the Pixel 9 Pro, the overall device size remains the same, thanks to smaller bezels. Another exciting feature mentioned in the leaked information is the inclusion of 120Hz screens on all three Pixel 9 models.
The cameras on the Pixel 9 models also receive some attention in the leaked information. The Pixel 9 is said to feature two snappers, allowing for wide and ultra-wide shots. On the other hand, the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL are rumored to possess wide, ultra-wide, and 5x telephoto lenses, similar to the Pixel 8 Pro. The resolution of all three lenses is stated to be 50MP, which is an upgrade from the Pixel 8 Pro’s 50MP wide camera and two 48MP sensors.
However, conflicting reports suggest that the Pixel 9 series will retain mostly the same camera setup as the Pixel 8 line, according to leaker Yogesh Brar. Whether the sensors for the ultra-wide and telephoto lenses have been modified or rounded up remains uncertain. Regardless, camera improvements are expected, considering Google’s commitment to providing a top-notch photography experience.
Under the hood, the leaked information confirms the use of the Tensor G4 chipset, as previously expected. The Pixel 9 sample obtained by Rozetked’s source reportedly comes with 12GB of RAM and 128GB of storage, while the other two models feature 16GB of RAM and the same storage capacity. By comparison, the Pixel 8 offers 8GB of RAM with storage options of up to 256GB, while the Pixel 8 Pro packs 12GB of RAM and offers storage capacities of up to 1TB. Hence, the leaked information indicates a significant RAM increase for the Pixel 9 series, and we can anticipate even higher storage capacities.
Lastly, the leaked information suggests that both the Pixel 9 Pro and Pixel 9 Pro XL will incorporate Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, whereas the standard Pixel 9 will not. UWB technology, already present in the Pixel 8 Pro and other smartphones, enables ultra-precise object tracking and other advanced functionalities.
While it’s important to approach leaked information with caution, the details provided by Rozetked and corroborated by other industry insiders seem plausible and align with our expectations for the upcoming Google Pixel 9 series. The leaks offer a tantalizing glimpse into what Google has in store for its flagship smartphones, and fans can eagerly anticipate the official unveiling in October.
