Google is preparing for its upcoming launch event on August 13th, where it will unveil the highly anticipated Pixel 9 series. However, an intriguing leak has surfaced, providing us with more details about a third model that Google may introduce this year. In addition to the Pixel 9 and Pixel 9 Pro, there are speculations about a Pro XL model. This particular model is rumored to be the most expensive phone among the trio, and leaked photos supposedly showcasing the handset have appeared on XDA forums.
While Google has already offered a glimpse of what the Pixel 9 Pro will look like, it appears that the Pro XL model will have a similar design, but with a larger form factor. In fact, leaked images of the device reveal some specifications displayed on the screen. According to the leaked information, the Pixel 9 Pro XL will boast 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage in one of its configurations. Additionally, the device is said to feature the Samsung Exynos 5400 modem, which supports satellite connectivity. This feature is rumored to be introduced with Android 15, and it is highly likely that this modem will be included in the other Pixel 9 models as well.
In terms of comparison, the Google Pixel 8 offers 8GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. On the other hand, the Pixel 8 Pro increases the RAM to 12GB and can be equipped with up to 1TB of storage. If the leak about the Pixel 9 Pro XL’s specifications is indeed accurate, it would mark the first time a phone in the Pixel series comes with an impressive 16GB of RAM. This significant increase in RAM may be intended to enable advanced artificial intelligence capabilities. However, it remains uncertain if the other Pixel 9 phones will also be available with 16GB of RAM.
All four Pixel models that are expected to be released next month, including the Pixel 9 Pro Fold (the successor to the Google Pixel Fold), have already appeared in regulatory filings. Therefore, there is not much left for Google to reveal during the August 13th event. Nonetheless, we can look forward to the livestream of the event, where Google will officially announce all the details. There is also speculation that the Google Pixel Watch 3 might make an appearance at the same event, which is earlier in the year than usual. Last year, the Pixel 8, Pixel 8 Pro, and Pixel Watch 2 were unveiled in October.
It is an exciting time for Google and Pixel enthusiasts as they eagerly await the unveiling of the new Pixel 9 series. With the potential introduction of a Pro XL model boasting impressive specifications such as 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, Google seems to be stepping up its game in the highly competitive smartphone market. The increased RAM capacity may enable the Pixel 9 Pro XL to deliver enhanced performance and AI capabilities. As the launch event draws closer, we can expect more leaks and speculations to surface, keeping fans on the edge of their seats.
