In 2020, Panasonic released its first true-wireless earbuds, the RZ-S500W, which received rave reviews for their exceptional active noise cancellation (ANC) quality at an affordable price. As a reviewer for What Hi-Fi?, I had the opportunity to test and evaluate these earbuds, awarding them a perfect five-star rating. Now, Panasonic is back with a new addition to its earbuds lineup – the RZ-B120W. While the name may not be memorable, the sound quality promises to be.
The RZ-B120W offers up to 6.5 hours of battery life in the earbuds themselves, with an additional 19.5 hours provided by the charging case. This ensures that users can enjoy their music or podcasts without worrying about running out of battery power. Additionally, these earbuds are compatible with Siri and Google Assistant, making it convenient to access voice commands by simply tapping on the side of an earbud and speaking the wake word.
Although the spec sheet does not mention active noise cancellation, Panasonic claims that the RZ-B120W provides “Clear Stereo Sound with XBS for extra deep bass” thanks to the 7mm dynamic driver in each earbud. This feature is especially appealing for music enthusiasts who enjoy immersive bass-heavy sound. Moreover, the earbuds have an IPX4 rating, making them sweat-resistant and suitable for intense workouts. Their Bluetooth 5.3 technology ensures seamless connectivity to devices.
While pricing details are yet to be announced, I would recommend keeping an eye out for these earbuds if you are looking for a reliable and well-fitting option. Although they may not offer cutting-edge premium features, they are likely to deliver a satisfactory audio experience that gets the job done.
In addition to the RZ-B120W earbuds, Panasonic has also introduced the RB-M600B wireless over-ear headphones. These headphones boast an impressive battery life of up to 65 hours of playtime, with an extra 6 hours available after just a 15-minute quick charge. Alongside the long battery life, the RB-M600B includes active noise cancellation technology, featuring integrated feed-forward and feedback microphones. This ensures that external sounds are effectively blocked, allowing users to immerse themselves in their music.
Similar to the RZ-B120W earbuds, the RB-M600B headphones utilize Panasonic’s XBS Deep technology to enhance low bass frequencies, providing a powerful audio experience. The headphones also support multipoint connectivity to two devices, allowing users to switch between different audio sources seamlessly. Moreover, the RB-M600B incorporates Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) technology for clearer calls, ensuring that users can communicate without any disturbances or interruptions. The added ability to access voice assistants and the compatibility with Windows Swift Pair and Google Fast Pair for quick pairing further adds to the convenience and user-friendly nature of these headphones.
It remains to be seen whether the RB-M600B will make it to our list of the best wireless headphones, as it will require a thorough review and confirmation of its pricing. However, with its impressive features, including long battery life, ANC technology, and superior sound quality, these headphones hold promise for audiophiles and general consumers alike.
On a separate note, Technics, a Panasonic brand, has released a new color variant for its flagship earbuds, the EAH-AZ80. These earbuds, currently ranked as the top choice in our best earbuds guide, are now available in a stunning ‘Midnight Blue’ hue. If you haven’t had the chance to experience the Technics EAH-AZ80, I highly recommend giving them a try. They offer exceptional sound quality and a comfortable fit, making them one of the top contenders in the competitive earbuds market.
