S&P 500 Stocks: Palantir, Western Digital, and Micron Poised for Success in 2025, Drive Monday’s Rally

ALB, MU, NEM, PLTR, WDC

Today’s stock market saw significant gains for several companies within the S&P 500 index, with notable performances from Palantir Technologies, Western Digital, Albemarle, Micron Technology, and Newmont Corp.

Among these, Western Digital stands out as the leading performer of the year, showcasing impressive growth. Both Palantir and Micron are also in the top five, while Newmont ranks sixth.

Palantir’s stock surged 8.8%, reaching 193.61 and successfully reclaiming a key buy point of 188.20. The stock had faced an 11.2% drop last week amidst concerns about AI valuations, despite delivering strong earnings. On a positive note, the recent progress toward resolving the government shutdown is beneficial for Palantir, given their substantial contracts with government entities.

Western Digital experienced a notable 6.9% increase, reaching 174.22, continuing its upward trajectory following strong earnings from industry peer Seagate Tech and its own solid report. The stock broke out of a short consolidation pattern, reflecting robust market confidence.

Albemarle also saw a significant jump, rising 6.6% to 103.58, continuing its rebound from the 10-week moving average. The company is in the lithium sector, which is crucial for the current energy landscape, and is on the verge of a potential breakout point at 106.95.

Micron’s stock also excelled, climbing 6.5% to 253.30, marking a new high. The company’s stock has maintained support along its quickly rising 10-day moving average, indicating strong bullish momentum.

Newmont’s shares rose 5.8% to 88.26, bouncing back from both the 50-day and 21-day moving averages, and providing a favorable buying opportunity. The rise in gold prices has positively impacted miners, contributing to Newmont’s rebound.

As of this week, Western Digital leads the S&P 500 with an impressive 286.9% gain for 2025, followed closely by Micron at 200.9%, Palantir at 156%, and Newmont at 137.1%. In contrast, Albemarle’s growth stands at a more modest 20.3% for the year, although it has more than doubled since its lows in April.

Palantir and Micron remain prominent on leaderboards tracking significant stocks, reflecting their strong positions in the market.
