TechRadar’s exclusive poll reveals Grammarly as an unexpected contender challenging Copilot, ChatGPT, and Gemini, in the realm of AI technology.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an integral part of our lives, offering a wide range of solutions that aim to enhance our productivity, creativity, and communication. It has infiltrated various aspects of our daily routines, and to get a better understanding of the tools that have been most commonly used, we conducted a poll on the TechRadar WhatsApp channel. With over 6,600 responses, the results provide us with intriguing insights into the preferences and behaviors of AI users.

Unsurprisingly, the most popular AI tool among the respondents was ChatGPT, with a staggering 2,400 individuals having used it in the past 30 days. OpenAI’s versatile language model, ChatGPT 4o, recently received a major update that significantly improves its capabilities. It is important to note that we are still at the beginning stages of fully understanding the potential of this tool.

The next AI tool that garnered a significant number of users was Microsoft Copilot, with 1,100 respondents stating that they had used it. Its integration into Windows 11 and Microsoft Office applications has contributed to its popularity. Additionally, the inclusion of a Copilot key on new AI PCs has further increased its usage.

Google Gemini, on the other hand, was used by 811 respondents. While this is still a respectable number, it is somewhat disappointing for Google, as their AI endeavors have not been adopted to the same extent as OpenAI’s. The reasons behind this could be explored further to identify potential areas for improvement and growth.

One of the surprising findings of the poll was the popularity of Grammarly, with 584 monthly users. Grammarly has become a staple for enhancing writing quality across different platforms, and its widespread adoption is a testament to its effectiveness. The tool provides users with automated suggestions for grammar, spelling, and style improvements, making it an invaluable resource for writers of all levels.

In contrast, Midjourney and Stable Diffusion were used by significantly fewer respondents, with 124 and 107 users respectively. These tools can generate DALL-E 3 powered artwork, similar to Copilot and the paid version of ChatGPT. The lower number of users for Midjourney and Stable Diffusion can perhaps be attributed to the fact that they are relatively new or less known compared to the more popular options available.

Interestingly, a notable number of respondents (557 in total) reported using other AI tools not explicitly listed in the survey. This highlights the expansive and ever-evolving landscape of AI solutions available today. The continuous development and introduction of new tools further emphasize the rapid growth and adoption of AI technology.

On the flip side, 605 participants stated that they hadn’t used any AI tools in the past 30 days. This suggests that there is still a significant portion of the population that has yet to fully integrate AI into their daily routines. However, it is important to note that the adoption of AI is a gradual process, and as more user-friendly and accessible tools become available, we can expect to see a wider acceptance and usage of AI in the future.

It is worth mentioning that the poll conducted on WhatsApp allows respondents to give multiple answers and even contradictory ones. For example, participants can select both “something else” and “I didn’t use any AI tools” as their answers. Although we assume that the latter occurrence is statistically insignificant, it is essential to be transparent about the limitations of the data collected.

Overall, the poll results provide valuable insights into the current preferences and behaviors of AI users. It is evident that ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Grammarly are among the most widely used AI tools, each offering unique benefits to users in various domains. The relatively lower adoption of other AI tools indicates the need for further exploration and improvements in order to reach a broader audience.

As AI technology advances and becomes more integrated into our lives, it is crucial to stay informed about the latest tools and developments. This rapidly evolving field has the potential to revolutionize industries and transform the way we live and work. By embracing AI, individuals and businesses can leverage its capabilities to enhance their productivity, creativity, and communication, ultimately leading to a more efficient and connected society.
