A recent survey conducted by Pew Research Center revealed that more Americans are using ChatGPT, a chatbot that made its public debut over a year ago. The survey found that 23% of U.S. adults have used ChatGPT, an increase from 18% in July 2023. The survey also asked Americans about how they use ChatGPT, with many using it for workplace tasks, learning, and fun. However, there is a level of wariness among the public regarding the reliability of information provided by ChatGPT, especially when it comes to the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Despite the increase in ChatGPT usage, the majority of Americans have not used the chatbot. Certain groups, such as adults under 30 and highly educated individuals, are more likely to have used ChatGPT. For example, 43% of young adults under 30 have used the chatbot, compared to just 6% of Americans 65 and older. Additionally, 37% of those with a postgraduate degree have used ChatGPT, compared to 12% of those with a high school diploma or less.
