Today’s Stock Market Update: Dow Jones and S&P 500 Report Small Increases



Stocks rose on Tuesday, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average, Nasdaq, and S&P 500 all gaining ground. The Nasdaq showcased its strength as Donald Trump’s Trump Media & Technology Group (DJT) began trading on the exchange.

The Dow increased by nearly 0.3%, while the Nasdaq outperformed that mark. The S&P 500 also added nearly 0.3%, with the Russell 2000 gaining 0.3%.

Volume rose on the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq compared to the same time on Monday.

The Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) exchange-traded funds and the Innovator IBD 50 (FFTY) ETF both saw gains, while the 10-year Treasury yield increased by 1 basis point to 4.26%. Oil prices dipped to under $82 a barrel.

Durable goods orders for February rose more than expected, with core capital goods orders also increasing more than anticipated.

Trump Media, the parent company of Donald Trump’s Truth Social network, saw significant gains on its debut on the Nasdaq. Super Micro Computer and Micron Technology shares also rose, with Krispy Kreme jumping on news of a partnership with McDonald’s.

Tesla announced a free trial for its full self-driving service, while United Parcel Service struggled after providing a three-year financial outlook. Seagate Technology and McCormick saw gains following positive news.

Bitcoin’s price fell, leading to drops in bitcoin-related stocks like MicroStrategy, Coinbase, and Marathon Digital.
