Tyler Guyton Drafted by Cowboys in 1st Round

1st-Round Pick, Cowboys, Tyler Guyton

Guyton is set to make his return to his home state of Texas in 2024 after transferring to Oklahoma from TCU. With 29 collegiate games under his belt, Guyton brings a wealth of game experience and versatility to the field, able to play both right and left tackle positions. The Cowboys are specifically looking for him to fill the void at left tackle left by Tyron Smith.

In 2023, Guyton’s stellar performance earned him an honorable All-Big 12 mention. As a pass blocker, he allowed zero sacks in 355 snaps, showcasing his ability to protect his quarterback. The year before, Guyton only allowed two sacks in 400 snaps, proving his consistency in pass protection.

Standing at 6-foot-8 and weighing 322 lbs., Guyton’s size and athleticism make him a standout offensive lineman in his class. He excels in run blocking, creating impressive run lanes for ball carriers. However, he will need to focus on improving his hand placement and maintaining a low pad level to excel in the NFL, especially given his height.

Under the guidance of Mike McCarthy, Guyton is expected to make an immediate impact on the field. His presence allows Tyron Smith to potentially shift to the left guard position, enhancing the overall strength of the offensive line.
