Television icon Pat Sajak will be stepping down as the host of “Wheel of Fortune” after more than four decades at the helm. Sajak, who has served as host of the popular game show since 1981, announced his retirement last year and has already recorded his final episodes. His last episode is set to air on Friday, June 7.
In a move that has surprised and excited fans, Ryan Seacrest has been tapped as Sajak’s replacement. Seacrest, a well-known television personality and producer, expressed his gratitude at the opportunity to follow in Sajak’s footsteps. He described it as a “full circle moment” given his past experience hosting game shows.
While Sajak will be saying goodbye to “Wheel of Fortune,” his co-host Vanna White is set to stay on the show for at least two more years. White, who has been a fixture on the show for nearly two decades, recently signed a contract extension with a substantial pay increase. She has even suggested that if she is ever unable to host, Sajak’s daughter Maggie would be a suitable replacement.
The transition to Seacrest as the new host of “Wheel of Fortune” marks the end of an era for the show, but also signals an exciting new chapter. Fans can expect to see some fresh energy and perspective brought to the long-running game show.
