No Man’s Sky receives another significant update with the introduction of the “Orbital” update by developer Hello Games. This update, set to be released on Wednesday, brings procedurally generated space stations, a ship editor, and a Guild system to the space exploration simulation game, which has been around for nearly eight years.

Previously, space stations in No Man’s Sky were static and not subject to procedural generation. With the Orbital update, these stations will now be unique and different each time, featuring vast interior and exterior spaces with enhanced reflection and metallic surfaces. The stations will also include new shops, gameplay elements, and activities, all uniquely customized based on the virtual inhabitants’ system, race, and locale.

In addition to the new space stations, players will have access to a ship editor within the stations. Ship customization was intentionally limited in the past to emphasize the game’s exploration aspect. Players will still need to collect, trade, and salvage parts to build their ideal ship.

The Guild system has also been upgraded in the Orbital update, making factions more integral to the gameplay. Players can interact with Guild envoys on space stations, join factions, receive supplies and commodities, and contribute to enhancing their status within the group.

Furthermore, fleet management has been enhanced, allowing players to send their frigate fleet on away missions and come to their rescue if needed. These updates, along with engine improvements, a UI refresh, and additional features, are available for No Man’s Sky owners to install today.
